Nintendo DS goes Lite29/06/2006 Nintendo DS goes Lite
Despite its clunky retro look, the Nintendo DS is proving to be massively popular with gamers, in stark contrast with its stable-mate, the maligned Game Cube. Nintendo is clearly taking advantage of this by re-launching the DS and has seen sales of the new product hitting the 600,000 mark every month in Japan. The launch of the new Nintendo DS Lite in Europe comes just over a year after the original models release, and although some may feel that the upgrade is a snub to their brand loyalty, the new features are definitely tempting. The DS Lite is 39% smaller and 21% lighter than the original model with its modern white and black colour schemes, echoing the iPod and PSPs in their choice of hues. The DS Lites real weapon however, is its brightness control, which allows you to choose from four settings that are superior even to those of the PSP. The console hit the streets earlier this month and is supported by a selection of quality games including the new version of Super Mario Bros. For more information on the Nintendo DS, click here. |
